North Rhine Westfalia Band head to Ostend

The Youth Brass Band North Rhine Westfalia Band will play their part in the forthcoming European Festival in Ostend — featuring new composition talent.

The Youth Brass Band North Rhine Westfalia Band from Germany will be performing in open air concerts in Ostend.

The Youth Brass Band North Rhine Westfalia Band from Germany has been very busy of late under conductor Martin Schadlich — with a series of spring time concerts throughout their region of the country.

Ostend performances

The band will now head to Belgium where they will perform in an outdoor concert as part of the European Festival event in Ostend.

As part of their programme the band will perform 'Dragons Rise' and 'Breath of Souls' as well as two works for brass band by young German composers.

New composers

MD Martin told 4BR: "Lasse Lemmer is a young percussion player, who composed 'Der Tod und das Madchen' for the EBBA Composers Competition in Freiburg in 2015. He has also played as part of the European Youth Brass Band in 2014 and has already composed a work called 'Atlantica' for us. He is a very exciting talent.

We will also feature a new work by Ruben Schmidt, the solo horn player from Cologne Concert Brass. He is very busy arranging and composing for the Salvation Army and we will present his new composition 'A German Folk Song Suite'."
