Kensington & Norwood Brass from Adelaide in South Australia has engaged Robert Kavanagh as their new Musical Director. He takes the baton with immediate effect.

Over the past 18 months the band has worked successfully with the likes of Gregory Peterson, Phillip Paine, Mark Ford, Steven Boyle, David Polain and Peter Smith.

Wealth of experience

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "We thank all the conductors who have worked so well with us in the recent past.

Robert has a wealth of experience as a top-ranked performer in Australian and UK banding. He is a winner of over 50 solo contests, a former player with us and with Kew Band (Melbourne) and, during his time in the UK, he played solo horn with Leyland and Besses o' th' Barn Bands. He also has over 15 years of conducting experience throughout Australia."

Grow together

They added: "His passion for banding in general and K&N in particular will be an invaluable asset, and we hope that we will be able to grow together and continue to build on our reputation as the leading band in South Australia. We are really looking forward to working with him."
