Bands ready for Shirebrook entertainment

Why not make a trip to Shirebrook to enjoy some wonderful brass band entertainment this Sunday — and for just a couple of quid...

  The Enderby Band is the defending champion

The Shirebrook Open Entertainment Contest takes place this Sunday (9th July) — starting at 12 noon.

Entry to listen to seven cracking bands providing wonderful entertainment is just £2, so why not make a great afternoon of it at Shirebrook Leisure Centre, Park Road, Shirebrook (NG20 8JQ).

£750 for winner

The adjudicator this year is the experienced David Hirst, with a generous prize fund seeing the winner walk away with £750, and with podium prizes of £400 and £200. There are also awards of £200 for the 'Most Entertaining' Second, Third and Fourth Section competitors.

The defending champion is Enderby (above), with the contest due to finish at around 5.00pm.

January 11 • We are a friendly, inclusive and hard-working brass band, welcoming players of all ages and abilities. We are particularly keen to fill our Soprano Cornet, Flugelhorn, Tenor Horn, Euphonium and EEb Bass positions.


Putney and Wimbledon Brass Band

January 8 • Following our promotion to the 2nd section we are looking for a percussionist to do a bit of bing bonging on the timps for the regionals in March. We are a lovely band - everyone says so - so please get in touch. Rehearsals Weds from 1930 in Putney.
