The Chapeltown Band has announced the appointment of Sam Fisher as their new Musical Director.

The band has been actively searching for an MD following the recent announcement that Andrew Dennis was to retire to concentrate on his business ventures and received applications from a number of experienced and talented candidates.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "After auditioning three of the applicants, we were impressed with Sam's musical knowledge, drive and ambition and feel that he will challenge the band musically and take us forward."

They added: "Sam is an experienced brass tutor and music teacher in the Wakefield area, and has a wealth of experience both as a player with top class bands and as a conductor with the likes of West Yorkshire Police and more recently, Old Silkstone."
