Foden's inspire next generation

The stars of Foden's Band have helped inspire the delegates at the latest East Anglian Brass Band Association Brass Training Day.

Curtin
Gary Curtin was one of the Foden's stars who helped deliver a memorable training day in Norwich.

The East Anglian Brass Band Association recently held its annual Brass Training Day at Hewett Academy in Norwich, where delegates as young as 9 years of age enrolled for a wonderful course led by the star players of Foden's Band.

Whizz through

Anna Hughes-Williams, Melanie Whyle, Shaun Farrington, Gary Curtin and Stuart Baglin were joined by Course Leader Mark Wilkinson to study music as diverse as 'All in the April Evening', 'Variations on Laudate Dominum', 'Prismatic Light' and the classic march, 'The Standard of St George'. The band also accompanied Gary Curtin on a flying whizz through 'Grandfather's Clock'.

Great success

Association Secretary, Christine Wade told 4BR: "The delegates really looked forward to the day, which once again proved to be a great success.

Everyone found it enjoyable and beneficial, and I have already received numerous e-mails about the excellent choice of music. We also had some young cornet players attend the event for the first time.

They found it challenging but very enjoyable, so our thanks go to Mark, Anna, Melanie, Gary, Stuart and Shaun for an excellent event."

The Association was grateful to the generous support of the Town House Close Estate Charity.
