Farnworth & Walkden Band has announced the appointment of new conductor Luke Pallister.

The appointment continues the band's strong support for developing young musicians at the start of their careers — although despite his young age Luke already has a strong CV to his name.

Conducting start

The Foden's cornet player started his playing with Nottingham WBMH corps player, before joining Stamford Brass on principal cornet.

After moving to Birmingham Conservatoire to study he joined Foden's earlier this year, before moving to the RNCM in September to carry on his studies — leading him to seek a conducting start at Farnworth.

I feel privileged to be given the chance with Farnworth and I'm already impressed by the work ethic of the band as we look forward to the Brass at the Guild contest in Preston early next yearLuke Pallister

Work ethic

He said: "I feel privileged to be given the chance with Farnworth and I'm already impressed by the work ethic of the band as we look forward to the Brass at the Guild contest in Preston early next year.

We have planned an exciting programme of concerts and contests and I believe the band has huge potential."
