The Shirley Band welcomed their young soloists from the Solihull Youth Band

The Shirley Band recently performed to a sell out audience at its annual 'Brass at Christmas' family concert.

Under the baton of MD David Bishop-Rowe, the Solihull based band gave their West Midlands audience, which included local MP Julian Knight, plenty of festive music to enjoy with additional solo features from Solihull Youth Brass Band.

Full house

Band secretary, Brian Johnson told 4BR: "We were delighted to attract a full house once again for a concert that has become a real highlight of our banding year.

The youngsters from Solihull Youth Brass Band were brilliant — as we own talented performers, and it made for a wonderful occasion that involved everyone in our local community from both bands to generous sponsors Wadsworths Solicitors."

Great opportunity

Meanwhile, Richard Bull, MD of Solihull Youth Brass Band, added: "I'm delighted that Shirley Band once more invited some of our young players to perform alongside them.

This was a great opportunity for talented players to benefit from playing with such an experienced band."
