Tredegar leads musical trek to Machu Picchu

The memory of an inspirational local primary school teacher will be recalled in music this evening by Tredegar Band in a concert that will raise funds for a wonderful fund raising trek

Tredegar Band will be performing in concert this evening (Thursday 14th December) in a special fund raising concert at Newbridge Memorial Hall (7.30pm start) celebrating the life of local school teacher Julie Bourne.

Loss

Julie, who worked at Pentwynmawr Primary School for 25 years, lost a short but hard fought battle with cancer following her 50th birthday this year — a loss felt by everyone in the school and local community.

The concert will help raise funds for his husband Tim and twin boys Matthew and Ryan aged 22 to undertake the Machu Picchu Inca Trail trek in aid of Cancer Research Wales in 2018.

Inspired

"These are the type of events I know Tredegar Band is proud to support,"Leanne Porthouse, who worked with Julie said. "Julie was so well known to everyone in the community and helped teach and inspire hundreds of children over the years.

It's going to be a celebration concert with music for everyone to enjoy, so we hope people will come along and enjoy themselves as well as remembering a wonderful person."
