Consett youngsters get to Sing with Joy

Sandy Smith links up with the talented youngsters of Consett Junior School for a brass and voice Christmas cracker

Consett
The massed ranks of brass and voice have been heard with 'Sing with Joy'

A carol written by a group of Year 6 children from Consett Junior School has been set to music by the well known composer and arranger Sandy Smith.

Delighted

The children were delighted that Sandy took an interest in their project and even more so when he produced band parts for the school band to accompany the singing.

'Sing with Joy' had its world premiere at a recent concert at Consett Methodist Church and more performances are scheduled over the next few days and in the lead up to Christmas.

This has been a fantastic project and we are so grateful to Sandy. Everyone is singing it!Deputy Headteacher, Rebecca Waters

Fantastic project

Deputy Headteacher, Rebecca Waters told 4BR: "This has been a fantastic project and we are so grateful to Sandy. Everyone is singing it!"

In response Sandy added: "This was something that I had to get involved with, as it was so brilliantly done by the children. This represents all that is good about enjoying music making and about Christmas!"
