Scaba to host test piece workshop

There will be an early season opportunity to delve in to the First and Second Section Area test pieces with a workshop event held by scaba in Crawley in February.

The Southern Counties Amateur Band Association (scaba) has announced that they will hold a 2018 regional test piece workshop in February on the works to be performed in the First and Second Sections.

Garman and King

Led by Association of Brass Band Adjudicator (AoBBA) members Nicholas Garman and Chris King, the event will be held on Sunday 11th February in The Studio at The Hawth Theatre, Hawth Avenue, Crawley (RH10 6YZ0) utlising the talents of Friary Guildford Band.

The First Section work, 'Brass Metamorphosis' will be discussed by Nicholas Garman. The MD of Littleport Brass is an examiner for the London College of Music and member of the AoBBA Executive Committee, with an increasing portfolio of adjudication appointments.

Chris King will discuss the Second Section work, 'Ex Terra Lucem'. Chris is the MD of Friary Guildford Band, and also has a busy adjudication portfolio including appointments at the 2018 Midlands and L&SC Championships.

The Hawth has excellent road (M23 J11 Pease Pottage) and rail (Three Bridges) links. There is ample free parking at the Theatre and an excellent restaurant on site.

The Second Section workshop will take place from 10.00am-11.30am and the First Section from 12.30-14.00pm.

Priority will be given to Musical Directors of bands competing in the First and Second Sections.

Tintwistle Band
