The Champion Band of Great Britain enjoyed yet another celebratory occasion to round off what was a memorable 2017, as the players and supporters of Brighouse & Rastrick met for their annual awards evening.

Achievements and awards

The formal event recognised the achievements of the past year for both the band as well as individual players, with the prestigious 'Conductor's Player of the Year' award presented to principal cornet Kathleen Gaspoz.

Matt Wade won the 'Bandsman of the Year' accolade, the horns and flugel the 'Best Section', with Ellena Newton claiming the 'Non-principal Player of the Year'.
