Slaithwaite add to the ranks for busy year ahead

The Slaithwaite Band has added to its strength in depth and percussion with new signings.

Signings
The new signings will add strength to the tubas and percussion sections for Slaithwaite

The Slaithwaite Band has welcomed a wealth of experience to complete their line-up ready for the busy contesting season ahead.

Experience

The experienced Andrew Emms comes in on BBb Bass from Diggle to replace Jim Ross who has retired from banding at the age of 76 after spending nine fantastic years with the band.

Andy certainly made an essential contribution in his first outing at the recent Brass at the Guild contest, helping the band to victory and claim the 'Best Basses' award in the Second Section.

Percussion additions

Meanwhile, the percussion section sees the addition of Matt Bayne and Ashley Clegg. Ashley is a graduate from the RNCM in Manchester and has most recently played with Black Dyke.

Local kit player Matt joins from a tour in China playing in the stage show, 'The Bodyguard', but who has found a new passion for brass band music.

These players bring in a wealth of experience and quality ready for a successful 2018 under our talented Musical Director Ryan WatkinsBand spokesperson

Wealth of experience

A band spokesman told 4BR: "These players bring in a wealth of experience and quality ready for a successful 2018 under our talented Musical Director Ryan Watkins.

After winning the Second Section at Brass at the Guild, our new signings will now be looking forward to the Yorkshire Areas."
