Marsden look to make new Huddersfield Mark

Marsden Silver returns to the top flight at the Yorkshire Area Championship determined to make a successful impression under new conductor Mark Peacock.

Marsden
Due to the need for an operation, Marsden will be looking for more success at the Yorkshire Area under MD Mark Peacock.

Marsden Silver Prize will be making their return to the top section at the Yorkshire Regional Championships in Huddersfield next month boosted by new signings.

New signings

After winning the First Section last year and enjoying a fine 2017 (above), they hope to make a mark aided by a trio of front row cornet signings in Mike Murfin, Tom Gibb and Christie Smith.

In addition, the trombone team sees the addition of Philip Rose and Max Lawrence on solo and second trombone respectively.

The experienced Lauren Rosborough joins on percussion, whilst Jo Hall comes in on second horn.

Although Mark has had just under two weeks working with us, he has already made a great impression and we are really looking forward to playing under him at HuddersfieldMarsden Silver Band

New conductor

Unfortunately, the band has temporarily lost the services MD Alan Widdop who led them to its success last year, as after waiting for a call for an operation, is due to go into hospital in the next few days. His place at the helm will be taken by the experienced Mark Peacock.

A spokesperson added: "Although Mark has had just under two weeks working with us, he has already made a great impression and we are really looking forward to playing under him at Huddersfield."
