2018 Buxton Contest cancelled

The popular Buxton Brass Band Festival has had to be cancelled this year due to the ongoing refurbishment work at the famous venue.

The organisers of the famous Buxton Brass Band Festival have informed 4BR that due to ongoing remedial building and renovation work on the Octagon Theatre in the Pavilion Gardens, the NWABBA has had to cancel the 2018 event which was due to take place on 13th May.

2019 return

Contest organiser Shirley Woodward told 4BR: "It is disappointing news as the Buxton Festival remains one of the most important and well supported regional contests in the UK. We do however hope to be back better than ever in a fully refurbished theatre in 2019."
