The new MD has already enjoyed a successful start to his tenure

Sale Brass has announced the permanent appointment of John Anderson as their Musical Director.

The Scotsman went to the Royal Military School of Music at Kneller Hall and on his return to civilian life played trombone with BMP Europe Goodshaw Band.

He went on to both play and conduct the band before moving to Walkden and then enjoy spells with Wingates and thirteen years with Poynton.

Sale appointment

John was appointed MD at Sale towards the end of 2017 after a very successful four-year spell on solo trombone with Eccles Borough Band.

Since coming to the band John has helped them to a podium finish at the Fourth Section at the Butlins Mineworkers Contest in January, and then qualification for the National Finals at the North West Area.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank John for his hard work so far and to wish him every success in the role moving forwardsSale Brass

He takes on the role on a permanent basis, with Band spokesperson Mary Waudby telling 4BR: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank John for his hard work so far and to wish him every success in the role moving forwards."
