Middle Band spotlight at Black Dyke Festival

Those players who enjoy something in the middle should make sure they sign up for the Black Dyke 'Middle Band Spotlight'.

Black Dyke
The spotlight will be on the middle of the band at the Black Dyke Festival

Black Dyke principal players Katrina Marzella, Zoe Hancock and Siobhan Bates are to lead a specialised 'Middle Band Spotlight' at the forthcoming Black Dyke Brass Festival at Leeds Town Hall on June 3rd.

The new feature will bring together flugel, tenor horn and baritone players to celebrate this unique section of a brass band.

As well as a performance from the Black Dyke principals, the workshop will focus on the role of the middle band and general skills development in sound, technique and ensemble playing.

Different focus

Siobhan told 4BR: "We are bringing a slightly different focus to the event this year to help players develop their skill sets and build on their passion for playing the instruments.

We look forward to meeting old friends and welcoming new ones. We promise this will be a great event to showcase the individuality and strength of a unique section of a brass band."
