  Yarm School is the excellent venue for the contest

Bands are being reminded that entries are now open for this year's Dr Martin Wainstone Cup contest which will take place at the Princess Alexander Auditorium, Yarm School in Stockton on Tees on Sunday 9th of September.

There are now just a few spaces left for Championship Section bands to compete the Wainstone Cup and a share of the impressive £8,000 prize fund.

Prizes

The winning band will walk away with a first prize of £4,000 with further podium prizes of £2,000, £1,000 and £500.

There are also additional prizes of £250 for the 'Best March' and 'Best Soloist'. All bands will receive £400 towards travel. expenses.

The competitors must perform a test-piece, march and solo item.

The contest, which takes place the day after British Open has become an increasingly popular event, and was won last year by the Reg Vardy Band.
