Martin Smith has returned to playing and is now set for the prestigious recital venue

It has been a long time since a euphonium soloist has given a recital at St Martin-in-the-Fields in London, so its welcome news that Martin Smith of the Horsham Band will perform there on Tuesday 24th July (1.00pm)

Martin will be joined by accompanist Philip Shannon for what is wonderful return to the spotlight after giving up playing after 35 years.

Comeback

As part of his comeback he gained his ATCL and LTCL, both with distinction in one year and recently passed his Fellowship at Trinity College London (FTCL).

His recital programme for the free event will feature works by Stanford, Jenkins, Golland, Rossini, Lovatt-Cooper, Einaudi and Guilmant, and Martin told 4BR that he has been encouraged along this new and exciting path by the new music written for the euphonium for recitals and concertos with orchestras.
