50 shades of play at Siddis entertainment

50 bands will provide their very different entertainment shades of play at the impressive Stavanger Konserthaus this weekend.

  The impressive Stavanger Konserthaus will host the Siddis contest this year.

This weekend sees 50 Norwegian bands provide the entertainment at Stavanger's impressive Konserthuas, as they seek to claim the various Siddis titles.

The action will take place in different halls within the venue, with programmes varying in duration from 18 minutes in the Fourth Division to 24 minutes in the Elite section.

As always there will be a great deal of interest in some of the inventive approaches taken by the competitors at each level.

Ethos

The ethos of the contest is for bands to play music focussed towards entertaining an 'ordinary audience'. The bands are free to choose their repertoire which must show their breadth of musicality.

The bands get points for the musical performance and one for the content of the programme. The adjudicators should emphasize the musical performance and the content of the programme, not stage performance (show) or use of external effects.

Gala concert

Elite Division champion Eikanger Bjorsvik will defend their title against nine top class rivals, whilst after the competition has ended there will be a fantastic gala concert provided by Stavanger Band and multi-instrumentalist and singer Gunhild Carling — inspired by the theme of a 1940s jazz club.
