The Gloucestershire Brass Band Association and Gloucestershire Music have joined forces to provide youth band leaders, conductors and local musicians with free training to help develop their skills.

The event will take place on Sunday January 6th at Sir Thomas Rich School in Gloucester.

Start and develop

Conductor and composer Tom Davoren will lead a session on the basics of conducting (bring your instruments) which will be followed by an open discussion alongside Piet Visser (a respected band leader from the Netherlands) and Remi Vilys (a leading brass band representative of the Lithuanian brass band movement) on how to start and develop successful youth band programmes.

The day will conclude with the opportunity to listen to the newly formed Gloucestershire Youth and Reunion Brass Band.
