Fountain City to make youth impact on UK tour

North American champion Fountain City will be inspiring British youngsters on their visit to the UK.

Fountain City
Fountain City will be providing plenty of entertainment on their trip to the UK

North American champion Fountain City is going to be a busy band once they touch down in the UK later this evening, as they acclimatise for their appearance at the Brass in Concert Championship at Sage Gateshead on the weekend.

Not only will they be showcasing their skills and talents in the north east and at the University of Salford (Saturday 17th), but they will also be stopping at Reddam House School in Berkshire on Thursday (15th) where they will be performing a concert for over 200 pupils.

Resonance

The event has special resonance as the school has just introduced an Instrumental Scheme in which all pupils in Year 3 learn to play a musical instrument as part of the curriculum.

As Steven Williams, the Director of Music at the school is a keen euphonium player, he was determined to inspire his youngsters by inviting the Americans over. The two bands have been brought together by a music college connection, as Steve and Fountain City's Helen Tyler studied together at the Royal Northern College of Music.

Evening concert

Not only will the band provide their special brand of entertainment for the aspiring young British players, but a little later they will join up with Sandhurst Silver Band to entertain the whole Reddam House School community in a special evening concert.

Steven told 4BR: "Sandhurst has a fantastic relationship with Reddam House School and are looking forward to numerous concerts with the school's choirs throughout this year.

The opportunity to invite Fountain to perform to the pupils was too good to miss and Im sure they will be inspired by their playing."
