Elland to host Yorkshire preview

If you want to hear each of the Area test-pieces ahead of the Yorkshire Area then now is your chance...

Huddersfield
The Yorkshire Area contest takes place in Huddersfield on the weekend of 2nd/3rd March

Elland Silver Band will be hosting a Yorkshire Area preview this weekend.

The event at Brooksbank School, Victoria Road, Elland will take place on Saturday 23rd February (6.30pm), and will feature the Friendly Band (Fourth Section), Lofthouse 2000 (Third Section), Meltham & Meltham Mills (Second Section), Wakefield Metropolitan (First Section) and Elland Silver (Championship Section) — all previewing their test-piece challenges.

Advice

Each band will also perform a hymn tune and a concert piece, after which the experienced Mike Kilroy will provide some helpful advice to help the bands in their final week of preparation for Huddersfield.

Elland Silver Band Secretary, Kathleen Harrison told 4BR: "We are looking forward to welcoming our banding friends and to hear their performances on the test-pieces.

We hope everyone will enjoy the evening and that the bands will go on and be successful at the Area contest.

Tickets

Tickets are available from Kathleen Harrison on 01484 71716 or from Whitaker's Opticians, Southgate, Elland at £5 and free for under 16s.
