Something of an unique achievement for Newmains?

Newmains & District have been wondering if their latest success at the Scottish Championships is part of an unique achievement?

Newmains won the Second Section title in Perth

Newmains & District Band has been celebrating what they believe may be a unique achievement following their victory in the Second Section at the Scottish Championship on the weekend.

The win not only secured a double of Scottish title successes, but also ensured a third consecutive promotion, with the band now looking forward to yet another trip to Cheltenham in September as well as life in the First Section in 2020.

Unique?

"We think it may be unique as it also comes with a National title success in Cheltenham and two wins at the Fife Brass Band Festival,"conductor Mike Marzella told 4BR.

"We are used to certain football teams winning lots of trophies in Scotland over the years, but we don't know of too many bands that have done so in this way."

To have achieved this feat in the two years I've conducted the band is testament to the player's hard work and commitment — so the success is theirs, their families and supporters for their dedication and commitmentMike Marzella

Testament

He added: "To have achieved this feat in the two years I've conducted the band is testament to the player's hard work and commitment — so the success is theirs, their families and supporters for their dedication and commitment."
