Coalburn Silver Band is celebrating after their latest success in qualifying for the National Final in Cheltenham.

The band came runner-up in the recent Second Section of the Scottish Championship in Perth (above), with adjudicators Sheona White and Brett Baker commenting in their remarks that they felt the band had "...told a story with some excellent soloists"in a performance that was, "...so well directed, prepared and thought out".

The bulk of the players who performed have progressed through our band structure from Children's Band and Percussion Academy through to Intermediate and then onto senior Silver Band

Fabulous result

Band Secretary Daniel Beadle told 4BR: "Our congratulations go to our friends at Newmains & District who claimed the title, but this is also a fabulous result for our hard working band and musical director.

The bulk of the players who performed have progressed through our band structure from Children's Band and Percussion Academy through to Intermediate and then onto senior Silver Band."

The band is now looking forward to competing at the Fife contest in April followed by two concerts in Blantyre and East Kilbride in May.
