Wingates pioneer mental health workshop

Wingates Band is linking up with health care professionals and the Coop to run a free mental health workshop linked to the benefits of playing a brass band instrument.

  Wingates have teamed up with the Coop and health care professionals for the free workshop

In partnership with the Coop, the Wingates Band will be running a free workshop and concert to help people who suffer with mental health issues in the Bolton and surrounding areas.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Music therapy can help people with a range of emotional disorders and mental illness and can impact fundamentally on the way people live their lives.

Music Therapy has already been proven to benefit people suffering with PTSD, anxiety, depression and dementia."

Instrument

Those taking part will be given an instrument with help given by a tutor alongside professionally trained staff.

The event ends will be followed by a concert the following day featuring guest speaker Malcolm Rae OBE, the co-founder of the rugby league charity 'State of Mind'.

The free workshop will be held on Saturday 30th March (1.00pm-5.00pm)
