Thoresby Colliery Band has announced that due to unforeseen circumstances, resident conductor Sam Fisher has reigned with immediate effect.

Sam joined the band at the start of 2019 and had played a significant part in preparations for the Midlands Area contest and Grand Shield.

He said, "I've thoroughly enjoyed working with Thoresby over the past few months. However, due to other commitments alongside this role including my ongoing commitment to Chapeltown Silver Band I have to relinquish my position and wish the band the very best of luck for the future!"

In response, the band stated: "The band would like to thank Sam for all his hard work and guidance over the last few months, and hope that we can work with him again in the future.

We wish him all the best for his future endeavours and we will be welcoming applications for the role."
