Paul Holland has had to pull out of conducting Flowers at the Band of the Year event

The Flowers Band MD Paul Holland has had to pull out from conducting the West of England Area champion at the BrassPass.tv 'Band of the Year' contest in Manchester on Saturday.

The band will now be conducted by Mareika Gray who has stepped to conduct the band at the contest and a concert later the same night.

Devastated

Paul stated on his Facebook page: "I am completely devastated to be out of conducting action this weekend due to a reoccurring herniated disc which last night popped out while helping set up Flowers rehearsal.

I've been here before and have new meds to help but it doesn't take away the hurt of not being on stage this weekend.

Thank you and good luck to Mareika who literally said yes to taking flowers in the BrassPass contest (and a concert later) just a few hours ago!

Thanks also to my other conducting friends who were willing to disrupt their weekend in order to help out where they could. What great friendships we form through banding."
