Foden's to add free Lovatt masterclass to concert appearance

National Champion add extra attractions to their forthcoming appearance in Mossley next month.

National Champion, Foden's have added a special attraction to their appearance in concert at the George Lawton Hall, Mossley on Saturday 13th July.

Free masterclass

Not only will they link up with British Open Youth Champion Elland Silver Youth and the incredible Superbrass ensemble made up of many of the finest pro brass and percussion players in the UK, but prior to the concert there will be a free masterclass led by the amazing trumpet player Mike Lovatt and renowned professional trombonist Chris Houlding.

Mike is the lead trumpet with the BBC Big Band and John Wilson Orchestra and can be heard on numerous film tracks including 'Tomorrow Never Dies' and 'Die Another Day', 'Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince', 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows', 'Chicago' and 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'.

Chris was Principal Trombone of the Orchestra of Opera North for 27 years and has since appeared as Guest Principal with most major UK ensembles including the London Symphony, London Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, Royal Opera House Covent Garden and London Brass.

Time, place and register

Entry to the masterclass at 1.00pm is free with prior registration to Mark Wilkinson at marklwilky@hotmail.com where those attending will have to show a ticket for the concert to gain entrance.

April 25 • Frome Town Band seeks a new Musical Director. The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled musician with experience of running ensembles and events, who has an enthusiasm for and a vision towards developing the organisation as a community resource.


Sherborne Town Band

April 24 • Exciting opertunity for a principal cornet player to lead our friendly band. We also would be excited to hear from percussionists with experience in tuned percussion and kit. We are currently in the Championship section and have a busy schedule in 2024.


CLEETHORPES BAND CIO

April 24 • We have lots of cornets and horns but a little thin in the bottom end. Our players are happy to move around to help new players join the band, if you play baritone, euph or bass please give us a try. We rehearse every Sunday and Thursday at 7.30pm
