Friendly resident welcome for Griffin

The Friendly Band looks forward to world premiere with newly appointed Composer in Residence, Ashley Griffin

  The band is delighted with the opportunity to premiere new music

The Friendly Band has announced the musical partnership with Ashley Griffin as their first Composer in Residence.

He has already completed his first commission for the band which will feature in a concert later this year, and there are already two other works in the pipeline.

Worldwide

Ashley, who studied trombone performance and composition at Leeds College of Music has already had his music performed all over the world including notable performances by the Amsterdam Staff Band and the Japan Staff Band of the Salvation Army.

He told 4BR: "I'm really excited to have this opportunity with the Friendly Band and am looking forward to hearing the first of my pieces in the near future as well as collaborating on some very interesting projects in 2020."

Wakefield Metropolitan Brass Band

December 5 • Solo Horn and Flugelhorn/Cornet required to complete the line up for the areas next year. A friendly band with a sensible engagement list and can arrange transport from Wakefield stations. Rehearsals Monday and Thursday 7:45-9:30


Longridge Band

December 5 • The Longridge Band (First Section North West) currently requires a percussionist.. . The band is one of the most well organised and run bands in the area, with a good mixture of contests/concerts and social activities planned for 2020.
