The Music Man returns

Bramwell Tovey's triumphant return to the conducting rostrum has been greeted by acclaim by American critics.

The Los Angeles Times newspaper has welcomed back Bramwell Tovey to the rostrum for a recent concert at the iconic Hollywood Bowl.

Music man

Writing his review of a special 'Britain at the Bowl' event in which Tovey led the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra in works from Purcell to Sullivan, the respected arts critic Rick Shultz wrote: "What a relief. The music man is back."

And although he remarked that the maestro's face was "leaner, making his eyes more prominent"in referencing his recent treatment for cancer, it was the dry wit and his ability to communicate with his audience that, in his words, made for "a delightful assortment"of music making as "the Hollywood fave"reclaimed the stage.
