The organisers believe that the Groningen Hall offers better facilities for the event

The 2020 Dutch Open Brass Band Championships (DOBC) will be held at a brand new venue.

The fifth edition of the contest will take place on the 13th of June 2020 at the De Oosterpoort concert hall in Groningen after enjoying four successful years at Theatre De Lawei in Drachten.

Better facilities

A spokesperson told 4BR: "The move to Groningen allows the competition to be held at a hall offering better facilities for the competing bands and audience.

The main concert hall in De Oosterpoort has superb acoustics and seating to accommodate 1150 people. It is located near the inner city area of Groningen, with easy access by car and public transport.

The move to Groningen allows the competition to be held at a hall offering better facilities for the competing bands and audiencespokesperson.

Vibrant city

They added: "Groningen is a vibrant city with plenty of hotels, restaurants and pubs within walking distance.

The organisation believes that with this move the DOBC can develop further as an international event."
