Jeans leads fitting tribute to stalwart supporter

Trombone star Chris Jeans led a a fantastic practical tribute to a great supporter of Cheltenham Silver Band.

Chris JEANS
Chris was the perfect host for the training day with Cheltenham Silver Band

A wonderful musical gesture in memory of an equally wonderful supporter of Cheltenham Silver Band has seen trombone star Chris Jeans provide a super training day.

Fitting tribute

Angie Shepherd and her mother Eileen had been stalwart supporters of the band for many years.

When Eileen passed away earlier this year Angie decided that she would like to do something in her memory, and after considering other ideas came up with a fitting tribute in the form of a special training day.

Angie was delighted that Chris agreed to come along — and proved to be the perfect host as he led players through some of the band's favourite pieces as well as some challenging new repertoire.

Brilliant

She told 4BR: "Chris was brilliant and had so much time for everyone. Hes also had some advice for our MDs Colin and Roger to help inspire our players of all ages and abilities, and this will help us to continue to carry the improvements forward.

It was so much fun and was rounded off with a mini-concert for family and friends at the end of the afternoon."

It was a wonderful gesture by Angie in memory of her mother, and we can't help feel that she would have been thrilled by the day and pleased that her legacy in the band lives onCheltenham Silver Band

Thanks

A band spokesperson added: "We would like to thank Chris for his humour and his generosity in sharing his skills, as well as Courtois Musical Instruments for their support and assistance.

It was a wonderful gesture by Angie in memory of her mother, and we can't help feel that she would have been thrilled by the day and pleased that her legacy in the band lives on."
