Jayess Newbiggin Band has announced the appointment of Helen Douthwaite-Teasdale as their new Musical Director.

Helen has gained a wealth of experience from her time playing solo trombone with the likes of Reg Vardy and Kirkintilloch, as well as a successful period as conductor with the Irvine & Dreghorn Band in Scotland.

Band Manager Kayleigh Griffiths told 4BR: "The band were impressed by Helen's musical ability and knowledge, as well as her approachable manner in rehearsal, and she felt like a natural fit for us."

The band is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and the appointment of Helen is an exciting way to enter the next chapter of the band's history."
