After almost seven years as the Musical Director of the South London Fellowship Band, 4BR has been informed that Darrell Scholes has taken the decision to retire from the role.
He told 4BR: "In total I've been a member of this band for 11 years, the last seven as leader, during which we've embarked on a number of projects including several concerts to support local charities.
We've also undertaken a number of Salvation Army initiatives within the South London area and weekend visits around the UK, an overseas tour to Holland and completed a new CD for the band."
He added: "The time feels right for me to hand over the baton to the next leader to continue the success of this dedicated and committed group of musicians.
It's been a real pleasure to have been associated with the band for such a long time and I wish them well for the future."
