Although there appears to be no direct link to brass band achievements by people in the 20920 New Year's Honours List, congratulations are in order for composer Judith Bingham who has been awarded an OBE.

Born in Nottingham, the 67 year old, she studied at the Royal Academy of Music and is a Fellow of the Royal Northern College of Music.

Prague

Her extensive portfolio of work, from opera to major orchestral pieces has won worldwide acclaim, including multiple British Composer Awards.

Her works for brass band include the concert opener 'Four Minute Mile' and the larger works 'These are our Footsteps', 'The Stars Above, the Earth Below' and 'Prague', which was used as the Area Championship set-work in 2003.
