Tabby Kerwin, of Mode for… has announced that, in-line with her and late husband Simon's commitment to creating opportunities for promoting brass band music, the publishing house is looking to accept submissions from previously unpublished composers.

Support

Tabby told 4BR: "It can often be difficult for composers wishing to write for brass bands to get support and publishing opportunities.

I want to make that easier for talented writers and make Mode for… the platform for those composers who require help making their music available to the banding movement."

Tabby revealed that her company will take submissions throughout 2020 to be assessed for publication.

Opportunity

She added: "I want to publish as many of the works as possible on a professional basis and with agreement with the composer as a PDF download through the Mode for…Publishing website.

My hope is to create an opportunity for previously unpublished composers, whilst making new and exciting music easily accessible to bands to create extra diversity in their concert and contest programmes."

Tabby said that the submissions should be original compositions for brass band or ensembles of any level, and should be up to 8 minutes or so in duration.

Agreement

Tabby concluded: "There is no age restriction, but composers must not have had any piece previously published for full brass band or smaller brass band ensembles.

Composers under the age of 18 will require parental/adult consent before entering into any agreement for publication."

Submissions can be sent to Mode for…Publishing at modeforpublishing@gmail.com and should be sent as either a Finale file or PDF and accompanying sound file.
