A craftsman at McQueens brass instrument renovators and repairers in Pendlebury, near Salford, Lancashire, polishes a cornet with a very special gold finish.
The company which has a worldwide reputation for the quality of its works has developed a special gilded gold lacquer which is cured at a higher temperature in its specialised ovens to give a remarkable sheen as well as be more durable.
McQueens is one of the last bespoke renovators of brass instruments in Britain and is currently undertaking work making bugles for Her Majesty's Band of the Royal Marines. The company also looks after the renovation of many famous trophies including the football Premiership and FA Cups.
Owner, Rick McQueen told 4BR that he is very happy with the results of the company's most recent work which they will now be offering to customers — from cornets to tubas.
