Peter Graham's superb top-section test-piece was commissioned by the Brass Band Association of New Zealand.

It was the set-test at the 2018 New Zealand National Championships and was recently played as an own-choice selection at the Norwegian National Championships.

The work is cast in two parts; Part 1 — a musical evocation of the course of the river from Mount Tongariro to the sea, and Part 2 — Apakura, which pays tribute to the legendary cornet player Kevin Jarrett.
