Foden's keep banding link to north Wales

Before the Coronavirus hit, Foden's players ensured they kept musical spirits up in north Wales.

Before the Coronavirus pandemic started closing cultural and arts events across the country, Foden's Band enjoyed leading a great day of brass band music making in north Wales.

Paces

Player of all ages and all abilities came to the Abergele Community Centre where Foden's stars Mark Wilkinson (conductor and cornets), Joe Murtagh, Heather Linnell, Aled Williams, Nick Birch and Stuart Baglin put them through their paces.

The music chosen encapsulated a wide variety of genres, but was aimed to ensure everyone was kept interested to ensure both the less experienced and the more advanced players both gained from the experience.

The great Welsh march, 'Castell Coch', 'Shine Jesus Shine', the Cornish hymn, 'Salutation' and 'Prismatic Light' were all looked at in small ensemble groups before sectional rehearsals and the final massed workshop concert.

A 'Question & Answer' session gave the delegates an opportunity to pick the brains of the Foden's tutors before the concert which was attended by friends and family.

Great day

Organiser Mary Wallace of Beulah Brass told 4BR: "It was another great day — and one given the circumstances that have since arisen that will be cherished for some time by everyone that was involved.

My thanks go to everyone that attended and to the Foden's players who as usual were superb."
