Rong to reach out to global concert audience

There is a chance to enjoy a free brass band concert from Rong Brass this weekend — introduced by a familiar face and featuring some great music.

Rong
Rong Brass and David Morton have made a reputation for themselves and their entertaining music making.

Brass bands from all over the globe continue to come up with innovative solutions to tackling the musical challenges imposed by the Coronavirus pandemic.

One of them is Rong Brass from Norway who will be presenting a free digital concert on Sunday 7th June (6.00pm UK time)

Great music

It will be hosted by presenter Stein Skorpholm, well known throughout the banding world as the compere at the Norwegian National and European Championships, with the featured music coming from the pens of Wilfred Heaton, Respighi, Karl Jenkins, Allegri, James Swearingen, Frode Alnæs, Roger Tallroth and others.

The band, which has been promoted to the Elite level for 2021 has been rehearsing by observing social isolating guidelines since 29th of April.

Spread joy

Musical Director David Morton told 4BR: "It's been such a challenging spring for everyone around the world.

The well being of our friends, family and colleagues has been a primary focus during this period but it's been really fantastic to have something to look forward and to be able to meet and work with other musicians."

He added: "We really hope to spread some joy to our local fans, share the love of music making and perhaps make some new contacts in other places around the world! We can promise that we will enjoy ourselves and we hope that others can too."
