There was plenty of great on-line playing at the recent Reg Vardy Youth Brass contest.

Everyone was a winner at the event

The Reg Vardy Band recently held its on-line Youth Brass Contest which featured a number of wonderful performances from youngsters from all parts of the North East.

Impressed

Adjudicator John Roberts was impressed with every entry, and delighted that it was obvious that the youngsters had been inspired to keep practicing hard during the lockdown period. He commented that there were a host of brilliant performances, particularly in 11-15 age group.

Each of the category winners will now receive a free one hour lesson with a Geneva Artist.

Cheeky smiles

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "Our thanks go to everyone. We enjoyed every performance and loved the cheeky smiles at the end of pieces!

We were pleased to see that those who are right at the very start of their brass careers through to those who are already old hands at the game presented pieces with enthusiasm and evident talent."

Following the success of the event, the band is now working on a youth workshop day, sponsored by Geneva Group with all those who took part in the contest being invited.

Our thanks go to everyone. We enjoyed every performance and loved the cheeky smiles at the end of pieces!Reg Vardy Band
