World of Brass Radio comes to an end

After 14 years and over 700 episodes the last chord will be heard on World of Brass Radio presented by John Maines.

World of Brass
The radio show lasted for over 14 years and 700 episodes

It has been announced that World of Brass Radio is to come to end. The internet programme has been hosted by the well known brass band personality John Maines for almost 14 years and over 700 episodes and provided a regular outlet for bands across the world.

Eclectic programmes

The former Black Dyke solo trombonist managed to find time between conducting, compering and working for the National Youth Band of Great Britain organisation (as well as occasionally keeping is lip in on trombone) to curate eclectic programmes from various sources.

He used his years of brass band knowledge and experience (he held the rather unique record of winning the British Open at each of its venues) to inform and entertain listeners.

Ever changing world

In informing listeners he said: "It is with sadness that I have to announce that World of Brass Radio is to cease.

Worldofbrass.com do not see a need for the programme anymore so the final episode will be available on Friday the 28th August.

The programme has been online for almost 14 years and has aired over 700 continuous episodes but has now become another casualty of this ever-changing world."

Thanks

He added: "Thanks to all the performers, bands, soloists and conductors who have graced the programme over the years and also to my many listeners worldwide for all the positive comments and support you have given me."
