The 2020 contest may have been cancelled but there is still the opportunity to win a great prize from the British Open weekend — by just reminding yourself who was the Stanley Wainwright award winner last year.

British Open
The Shield may not be awarded this year — but a great Besson cornet is up for grabs

It would have course have been the British Open Championship at Symphony Hall in Birmingham this weekend, and although understandably the contest itself in not taking place there will still be plenty of great music making to enjoy — so keep your eyes peeled on 4BR.

In addition there is also a fantastic prize on offer too — although its not the iconic Gold Shield Trophy, which is being kept safe until 2021.

Prodige cornet

Instead, and thanks to our friends at Besson and Band Supplies, we have a superb Besson Prodige cornet, worth over £400 to be won.

It's the ideal instrument for the developing student player or the performer who wishes to enjoy playing on a superb instrument that produces the legendary Besson sound quality.
