You can't keep a good band down...not in Canada anyway

A 10 piece group from the professional Hannaford Street Silver Band has made sure you can't keep great brass band music making down for long despite the restrictions...

Hanneford
The concert title summed up the great approach...

Despite all the gloom surrounding the restrictions imposed worldwide by the Coronavirus pandemic, brass bands are still taking the opportunity to enjoy what they do best — and make music together (although in a totally appropriate socially distanced virtual reality way!)

The latest to really enter into the spirit is the professional Hannaford Street Silver Band from Toronto — who produced this fantastic 10 piece virtuoso concert presentation under the direction of Daniel Warren, under the appropriate title of 'You can't keep a good band down'…

Huge impression

Hannaford Street Silver Band, the only fully professional ensemble of its kind in Canada was formed in 1983 and had since made a huge impression both at home and abroad by facilitating innovative creative projects and collaborating with the very best of Canada's diverse cultures and outstanding artists.

The organisation also has the mission of promoting and fostering education and to this end the Silver Band has for several years sponsored and administered the Hannaford Youth Programme where young musicians between the ages of eight and 24 perform in three vibrant ensembles: The Hannaford Junior Band, Hannaford Community Band and the Hannaford Street Youth Band.

In spite of the formidable challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic, we have just released our first digital concert for people to enjoyHannaford Street Silver Band.

Enjoy

Speaking about the hour long concert their spokesperson told 4BR: "In spite of the formidable challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic, we have just released our first digital concert for people to enjoy.

This was produced under all of the Covid-19 protocols as required by the Province, City, venue and Toronto Musicians' Association. So we hope everyone can enjoy the music."
