It has been announced that there has been a change in the process of choosing the Netherlands Band to represent the nation at future European Championships.

It comes as a response from organisers NBK following the postponement of the 2020 contest due to Covid-19 and of a consideration to enable the representative band to have more than a six-month period to raise funds and prepare for the event.

2023 representative

The 2021 National Champion Soli Brass will represent the nation in Malmo in Sweden in 2023, with the 2022 winner being invited to compete at the 2024 event in Palanga, and the 2023 winner heading to Stavanger in Norway in 2025.

The decision brings the Dutch into line with many other European countries.

Over a year

The official announcement stated: "The winner of the NBK Championship title will now have well over a year to properly prepare for participation at the event.

This planning creates space to better prepare without taking insurmountable risks."
