Cory inspire Welsh in World Cup

The sound of the Cory Band backing thousands of emotional Welsh fans has already made its mark on the World Cup — with hopefully a few more encores to come...

Wales
Red of Heaven — the Welsh fans sing their hearts out

The sound of the Cory Band was heard all around the globe on Monday as their rendition of the Welsh National Anthem, 'Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau' accompanied the Welsh Football team on their first appearance at the World Cup Finals since 1958.

The emotional response of the supporters in the stadium was such that one commentator said that if there was a trophy for the best singing of an anthem then Wales would already be world champions.

So proud

Talking about the honour, the band said: "We're so proud to have had our recording of the Welsh National Anthem used tonight at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar."

Although it didn't quite gave the team the perfect boost required as they battled back to gain a draw against the USA, there will the opportunity to hear the band and the massed ranks of singers in their bucket hats an red shirts belt it out against Iran and England over the next few days.
