Euph trio prepare for Jeju final

Lorenz Havermans, Domenico Cima and Thomas Dubois will compete for the prestigious Euphonium Competition title at the Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival.

Jeju
The trio will each perform the Karl Jenkins 'Euphonium Concerto'.

Three outstanding players will compete in the final of the 19th Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival Euphonium Competition in South Korea on August 15th.

Lorenz Havermans (Belgium), Domenico Cima (Italy) and Thomas Dubois (France) will perform Karl Jenkins' 'Euphonium Concerto' to see who adds their name to a formidable list of past winners such as former 4BR 'Player of the Year' Yu-Han Yang, Lilian Meurin, Glenn Van Looy and Bastian Baumet. The first event took place in 2000.

Quality

22 performers from Europe and Aisa took part in the first round of competition, with the jury speaking in glowing terms of the quality of performances of 'Pulcinella' by Philip Sparke, John Reeman's 'Sonata for Euphonium' and two movements from Adam Wesolowski's 'Euphory Concerto'.

The international jury comprised Adam Frey, Baek Seung Yeon, Fernando Deddes, Mark Jenkins, Ryuji Usigami, Steven Mead and Tzu Hsiang Lin.

Competitions are also being held this year for bass trombone, tuba and percussion.
