Museum exhibition spotlights Scapegoat history

A new museum exhibition will shed a spotlight on the evocatively named Scapegoat Hill Band.

Scapegoat Hill
The band was formed in 1854 and made its last contest appearance in 1986

A new brass band exhibition is to be held at Colne Valley Museum in Golcar near Huddersfield that will spotlight the history of the Scapegoat Hill Band.

History

It will also include vintage instruments and music to enhance the narrative of the band formed in 1854.

Although the band no longer exists (making its last contest appearance in 1986) its history was one that saw a celebrated centenary souvenir published in 1954 as well as a 125th anniversary celebration in 1979.

Further details

Admission is £5 for adults and accompanied children are free. The exhibition starts on 5th October to 17th November every Saturday and Sunday.
