Brass Bands England (BBE) has made the shortlist for this year's ScottishPower Foundation Awards.

The organisation recently benefited from a grant from the ScottishPower Foundation with its work now been recognised with nominations in both the Innovation and Charity Champion categories.

BBE in one of only three organisations in each category, with the eventual winner chosen by a panel consisting of industry and media experts.

Two categories

In the 'Innovation Award' category, BBE has been nominated for its collaborative pairing programme, 'Elevate'.

Currently in its third round of partnerships, it sees bands of all abilities challenge their normal performance practice by being paired with an artist who will support their exploration of new ideas, genres and ways of working.

BBE's Chairperson Mike Kilroy has been nominated in the 'Charity Champion' category in recognition of his continued guidance and leadership.

During his tenure it has seen him lead the charity from a period of uncertainty to a national recognised, sustainable organisation with a growing membership and ambitious creative programme.

Significant and lasting

The ScottishPower Foundation Awards recognise those who make a significant and lasting contribution to society and enhance the quality of life in local communities through the projects and organisations that it funds.

Winners will be awarded £10,000 to support their vital work, and each category's runners-up will receive £5,000.
