The BTM Band has welcomed several new signings as they look ahead to a return to the Championship Section at the Welsh Regional Championships in 2025 for the first time in ten years.

Players

Jason Sheppard has re-joined on baritone, whilst the band welcomes back Claire Higgins on bass trombone and the vastly experienced BBb tuba player Simon Lloyd. Sam Hughes also returns to the cornet section

Some internal moves see Owain Hughes taking the soprano cornet role, Lloyd Barnaby moving onto solo trombone and Josh Maslen-Lock moving to BBb Bass.

Next Generation

A spokesperson told 4BR: "All the players are the epitome of bandspeople."

The band is also planning for the future after giving two players from its BTM Band: Next Generation ensemble invaluable playing experience in recent weeks. It follows the example of players who have moved up successfully through the ranks over recent years.

Proactive

MD Jeff Hutcherson told 4BR: "Our return to the Championship Section has been achieved with a proactive approach to new talent through our investment in our youth band set up.

Allied to our pool of experienced players around the stands the future is bright as we build a sustainable organisation with exciting potential and many projects in the pipeline."
